Footprint#

Pip is a native app with a Rust core, not a browser in a trench coat. The scanner runs every 5 seconds, the metrics sampler every 1.5 seconds, and the engine emits deltas rather than snapshots — so on an idle machine there is nothing to send and nothing to render.

macOS and Linux#

Windows is where Pip is best today. Detection leans on Windows-native tricks — enumerating sockets without elevation, reading each process's working directory — so a good macOS or Linux version is a real port rather than a recompile.

macOS builds

When a release includes a macOS build it is published on the download page alongside the Windows one. Until then, treat every page in this help centre as Windows-first.
